The software developed by Playlist Software Solutions is very efficient when using the resources of computers. In modern computer We are surprised by the low CPU consumption. The minimum configuration for using the software is met by market-standard PC´s. Old PC´s, mainly with more than 3 years of use, has a higher rate of hardware problems, both through use and technological lag, then compromises and much the programming of the station.
We recommend giving priority to the quality of PC´s to be used with the software developed by Playlist. Today, by specification, any currently standard computer on the market will be able to run, without problems, any of our software. PC´s with real power supply has promoted reliability to their use in air studios. We only notice a small index of problems with equipment running Playlist Digital and using on-board video cards, but it does not mean a technical recommendation for this software to use off board video cards. For on-board sound cards, they have an audio quality acceptable only for CUE use, We do not recommend it to be used to display the programming of a radio station.
Playlist software are projected to work in any processor for PC, as the most common are Intel and AMD. Usually, the Intel’s processors are more used, that also points to the facility to buy, once they have 80% of the processors market. In all of our test bases, we always use Intel, that why we recommend the Intel i3 or above (i5 or i7). Intel i5 has a good cost-benefit relation.
In any computer configuration, the minimum required is a 4GB RAM Memory, or, according to the minimum requirements of the Operating System, but we recommend using computers with 8GB or more.
Keep in your mind, the more space on the storage drive, more audio is stored, both music and recordings available to programming. Always buy storage units with the highest capacity available on the market, always looking at the cost-benefit ratio. The storage units installed on the current equipment have sufficient performance for the operation of the software. We recommend now SSD units; these have offered an excellent cost-benefit. In addition, the use of hard drives with 7200 RPM has been recommended, these also guarantee lower latency and have reasonably affordable prices. If you want high-performance equipment you can install a 480 GB SSD drive as the main drive and a hard drive of 2 TB or more than 7200 RPM as a secondary drive for content storage.
The Playlist Digital and Logger 2.0 will run in any audio board with WDM support. We recommend that in the main studio and for recording, soundboards with excellent audio quality, such as SoundBlaster, Digigram, Yamaha, M-audio, AudioScience, etc. To use the software Commercial and Maker, you will not need a good quality soundboard, and the on-board devices will be enough.
Radio stations that look after audio quality and require more input/output can use external soundboards which offer lots of resources and robustness. To this case, we recommend: M-Audio EIGHT; Preasonus AudioBox 1818VSL; Tascam US-4×4 and/or similar.
Playlist Digital and Logger 2.0 Software works with any WDM-supported audio card. However, for use in the main studio and recording audio cards with excellent audio quality, the sound blaster, Digigram, Yamaha, M-audio and AudioScience cards are recommended. For use of Commercial and Maker software is not required a good quality sound card, the on-board cards the demands. Radio stations that excel in audio quality and also want to use Aires Studio require several input/output channels, so they can use the audio interfaces that offer various features and robustness, for this case We recommend: Behringer UMC1820, Presonus 1824c, Tascam US20x20 and similar, they all with ASIO support.
Automation Suite products work with any Windows from Windows 8. For Aires Studio is indicated from Windows 10. It is always recommended to upgrade with the operating system that is used, especially if you have newer equipment and require stability in the processin.
In tests performed We reached greater successes with Windows 10 distributions. We recommend, in order of preference: Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2019.
For use of all operating systems mentioned above, they must upgrade with the update packages provided by Microsoft. For more information, please contact Playlist Support.
Playlist Digital, Maker, Logger 2.0, Smart Manager, Commecial and Logger Manager Software are not available for Linux and IOS environment. Aires Studio is available for MAC OS. For more information see the Aires Studio Help Center.
NOTE : Even though Playlist software does not present problems when operated on the Windows XP and Windows 7 operating system platform, We no longer recommend their use, because there are no more conditions of technological evolution with Windows XP E 7, since the developer Microsoft itself has discontinued their developments and ended any kind of support.
